Henry Schein Gold Medal Award Winner 2019

MELVILLE, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jul. 26, 2019– Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC) today announced that it has awarded its fourth annual Henry Schein Cares Medal in the Medical category to Shawnee, Oklahoma-based Youth and Family Resource Center. The Henry Schein Cares Medal program honors nonprofit organizations from the fields of medicine and dentistry that demonstrate excellence in expanding access to care for the underserved.

Youth and Family Resource Center was honored for its dedication to improving community health by strengthening families through the Partners in Caring initiative. As a founding member and partner in Partners in Caring, a collaborative school health team that serves schools in seven local districts, the Youth and Family Resource Center team and their partners aim to improve students’ academic performance while identifying and serving the health, social, and emotional needs of families, improving school/family relationships, and enhancing access to community resources.

“We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to improving the well-being of the families in our school districts while also working to improve public health and bring communities together,” said Joani Webster, Executive Director, Youth and Family Resource Center. “Our team works together with Partners in Caring to help address the health care needs of underprivileged children so they can be better prepared to succeed in the classroom. We thank Henry Schein for this award and we are grateful for their ongoing support of our mission.”

An independent panel of 15 judges selected Youth and Family Resource Center as one of the three 2019 Henry Schein Cares Medalists in the Medical category. Each Medalist receives a $10,000 cash award from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation. Three Medalists were also chosen in the Dental category.

“We are pleased to honor Youth and Family Resource Center with the Henry Schein Cares Medal for improving the health of the population it serves, and strengthening the ties that bind communities together,” said Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein. “We congratulate Youth and Family Resource Center, and hope that other organizations look to its team for inspiration on how to improve the lives of the people they serve.”

Since its founding in 1932, Henry Schein has been dedicated to fulfilling its responsibilities as a corporate citizen by giving back to the industries and communities it serves. The company created the Henry Schein Cares Medal in 2015 to honor community organizations that shared the company’s commitment to serving society and whose work has been especially effective in bringing care to people in need.

The Henry Schein Cares Medal is an initiative of Henry Schein Cares, the company’s global corporate social responsibility program.
